4:54am Wednesday update

Jackie’s vitals have remained stable for these hours. There will be an ultrasound done at 7am to determine if there is blood flow to the brain. We are holding strong for that miracle. Please continue to pray, in Christ Jesus.

“Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father, I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears: behold, I will heal you…(2Kings 20:5)

Be strong and courageous in prayer.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Josh 1:9)

9:45pm Tuesday Update

imagejpeg_0Thank you for your urgent prayers!

Tonight, there was a close call; too close for words to explain, really. And it still is close…very close. What can be explained is this: faith can move mountains. Jackie continues to live on machines tonight, and further treatment options are being discussed for tomorrow before any final decisions are made.

Please pray for Bill and the family and the decisions that have to be made during this extremely difficult time. Pray for the Lord’s hand to heal Jackie’s body – from head to toe – and that His omniscient guidance would touch the staff (although we can believe it did already tonight!). In Jesus’ name, say “Move!” to this mountain along with us.

and Jesus said… “Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move.” (Matt 17:20)

Today, we can thank God for one more day, and know that the tomorrows are in His hands as well.

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them…” (Ex 16:4)

Urgent Prayer Request

Doctors came in this afternoon with yet another curve ball. Jackie’s brain has been swelling and is not responding to emergency medications. The next hours are critical.

Please take a moment to pray to the God who knows our tomorrows.

Psalm 41:3
The LORD sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Thank you for caring for Jackie Lewis!

Social networks have lengthened the arm of the rumor-mill. This website was set up purely to update the situation for those who love and care.

The Background:

Jackie was admitted to the local hospital through the emergency room Friday 2/28/14 with “flu-like” symptoms. Initial tests revealed severe dehydration and some kidney failure. Things went from bad to worse by Saturday morning, as acute pancreatitis set in, along with liver function numbers out of the norm. Transfer to the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit was deemed necessary to get her closer to specialists. By Saturday night (Sunday morning) at 3:30am, breathing became labored, and she was transferred into the Intensive Care Unit, where she remains sedated and intubated.  A liver biopsy is planned for tomorrow.

Though she has made some improvements, it seems to be one step forward and three backward, with no diagnosis and no end in sight. Insect bites from a trip to Puerto Rico a few weeks ago are suspect.  Your fervent prayers are coveted! Fluid in the lungs, a high fever, swelling of the brain and biopsy results are in specific need of prayer.  Please pray for strength for the days ahead for Bill and the children (who have bad colds) and the family and friends helping.

Jackie’s four children (twelve and under) have been loved on and cared for by local friends and family to the best of their ability. Bill and other family and friends are staying at a hotel near the hospital so they can take shifts being by Jackie’s side.

Isaiah 40: 30-31:  “Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

Look to this blog for further updates, as we wait for her full recovery in Jesus Christ.
